Still Life

Artfully Arranged! Still Lifes in Dialogue

Special Exhibition at the Museum Schlösschen im Hofgarten

For three months, this exhibition will focus on the still life as an art form—a genre that took root in Europe during the 17th century, particularly in the Netherlands, where it continued to evolve and remains popular to this day. A still life consistently offers valuable insights into material culture, everyday life, consumption, and values, while also exploring the concept of transience. It is always a piece of contemporary history as well.

Inspired by texts that foster dialogue, visitors to the special exhibition can form a deeply personal connection with each painting. Not only art lovers and connoisseurs, but also those new to art and families are invited to explore this art genre more closely and to interactively experience the theme of “arranging”.

Still lifes from the foundation’s collection are complemented by contemporary works by seven artists from the Frankfurt Artists’ Society.
