A life dedicated to women’s rights

100 years of Ilse Werder

At an event organized by the Archiv Frauenleben im Main-Kinzig-Kreis e.V. (Archive of Women’s Lives in the Main-Kinzig District) to mark the 100th birthday of women’s rights activist Ilse Werder, a larger-than-life portrait drawing by artist INK in pencil and colored pencil on paper was unveiled.

The portrait of this impressive woman now hangs in the council chamber of the Neustädter Rathaus in Hanau. It reminds the decision-makers never to lose sight of Ilse Werder’s noble goals and life’s work. The issues she championed are depicted in the drawing as a necklace of pictograms.
