A hairy affair…
…or why you sometimes have to lie down in the meadow for drawings
Sometimes a drawing demands INK’s full physical commitment, and not just at the drawing table.
In order to take a closer look at the extremely rare “hairy lungwort”, which was successfully introduced to Jossgrund by the Naturland Foundation, for a botanical drawing, she hiked to the plant habitat every day for weeks to observe and record the entire flowering cycle.
Conservationist Klaus Weismantel regularly draws INK’s attention to special, often rare plants. In her series of works entitled “sub divo/under our sky”, INK works on these down to the last detail to make us aware of the special treasures of nature in the Main-Kinzig district that are worth protecting. In the case of the hairy lungwort, this is a hairy affair. Millions of tiny hairs must be captured.
On the 25th anniversary of the foundation the drawing will be presented to the public for the first time.
