Bird of the Year 2026

The Naturland Foundation in the Main-Kinzig district is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a work by INK

Sometimes birds also serve as models for a drawing. In this case, it was partridges that surrounded INK’s drawing board, alongside numerous images from Featherbase—a database of feathers from around the world—as well as pencils and three boxes of colored pencils.

The result is a large-format drawing featuring four partridges taking flight, the Bird of the Year 2026. The Naturland Foundation is offering this in a small format as a limited-edition fine-art print in exchange for a generous donation to the foundation. The donations will be used for nature conservation, including preserving a suitable habitat for the foundation’s emblem bird.

In the original drawing, the grasses from which the partridges rise are formed three-dimensionally from paper and collaged across multiple layers, enriching the work with additional depth and intriguing shadows.
